Rēzekne has two train stations — Rēzekne I (the main station) and Rēzekne II — reflecting its historical importance as a railway junction. Trains from Rīga are comfortable and scenic, passing through the Latvian countryside.

The Māra Monument
The city's most iconic landmark, the Māra Monument stands in the heart of Rēzekne and depicts the Latvian goddess Māra breaking chains — a powerful symbol of freedom first erected during the period of independence in the early 20th century. The current monument is a recreation of the original and draws visitors and locals alike.
Rositten Castle Ruins
On the hill above the city, the ruins of the 14th-century Livonian Order castle offer not only historical interest but also excellent views over Rēzekne and the surrounding area. The site is accessible and free to visit. It's a short walk from the city centre and particularly atmospheric at dusk.
Latgale Cultural History Museum
The museum provides an excellent introduction to the history, folk traditions, and cultural heritage of Latgale. Exhibits cover everything from ancient archaeological finds to Latgalian ceramics, traditional costumes, and the region's Soviet-era history. Well worth a couple of hours of your time.
Rēzekne Lake
Just at the edge of the city, Rēzekne Lake is a lovely spot for an evening walk or morning jog. In summer, the lake is popular for swimming and fishing. The waterfront path offers pleasant views and a taste of the natural beauty that defines the Latgale region.

- Rāzna National Park: Latvia's second-largest national park, featuring Lake Rāzna — one of the biggest lakes in the country. Excellent for hiking, cycling, birdwatching, and simply experiencing unspoiled Latvian nature. About 30 km from Rēzekne.
- Ludza: A charming small town with castle ruins, a historic Jewish heritage site, and beautiful lake scenery. Around 40 km north of Rēzekne.
- Aglona Basilica: One of the most significant Catholic pilgrimage sites in the Baltic states, particularly during the Assumption of Mary on 15 August. About 50 km south of Rēzekne.
